Hierarchy Editor dialog

This dialog appears when you click the Hierarchy Management button on the toolbar or select Hierarchy Management from the Tools menu in the Business Cube Editor window, Report Cube Editor window, or Business View Editor window. It helps you to edit the hierarchies for a business/report cube or business view. See the dialog.

The following are details about options in the dialog:

Dimension/Group box

The Dimension box is available to a business cube or report cube. It lists all the dimension data of the business cube or report cube.

The Group box is available to a business view. It lists all the group data of the business view.

Hierarchy box

You can use the following options to define hierarchies in the Hierarchy box. First you need to create a hierarchy category for grouping one kind of hierarchical data, then add data objects from the Dimension/Group box into this category. The data objects added into a hierarchy category should share a hierarchical relationship and follow the order from highest level to lowest.

• <Add Hierarchy...>
  Creates a new hierarchy category for holding a group of hierarchical data objects.

  Adds the selected data objects to the selected hierarchy category. When there are more than one hierarchy category being selected, the data objects will be added in the hierarchy category that was selected first.
• 
  Removes the selected hierarchy categories and data objects from the Hierarchy box. To remove a hierarchy category is to remove the whole category with all of its data objects.
• 
  Moves each of the selected objects one level up. Data objects move within their own hierarchy categories and hierarchy categories move by passing another hierarchy category.
• 
  Moves each of the selected objects one level down. Data objects move within their own hierarchy categories and hierarchy categories move by passing another hierarchy category.

• Context menu
  After you select one or more objects in the hierarchy box and right-click it, the following options are available on the shortcut menu:

  • Move Up
    Moves each of the objects one level up. Data objects move within their own hierarchy categories and hierarchy categories move by passing another hierarchy category.
  • Move Down
    Moves each of the objects one level down. Data objects move within their own hierarchy categories and hierarchy categories move by passing another hierarchy category.
  • Rename
    Renames a hierarchy category as required. This option is enabled when only one hierarchy category is selected.
  • Remove
    Deletes the selected hierarchy categories and data objects. To remove a hierarchy category is to remove the whole category with all of its data objects.
  • Remove All
    Removes all the hierarchy categories with their data objects from the Hierarchy box. This option is enabled even if no object is selected.

OK

Applies the changes and closes the dialog.

Cancel

Closes the dialog, leaving any changes unsaved.
